Exercises and Activities
A selection of our favorites

Creating numbers up situations in possession using width and depth in the attacking half
Set-up.
5 vs 5
2 counter goals just shy of half-way
3 Boxes for Blue 11,8,7 to begin inside.
They can be released upon all 3 players touching the ball in possessive build-up. This then creates the 5 vs 4 outfield attack.

Getting into the danger zone - Fun, high tempo, attacking vs defensive activity
Set-up.
5 vs 3 - Attacking favor
2 Attacking triangles (as shown) - consisting of poles and mannequins
2 Red cones for the defensive team at the 18 - Used as a point of reference for each repetition

6 vs 5 to Targets directional activity with modifications
Field is split into 3 zones (as shown)
Blue 'Defending' Team send ball long to ignite the exercise.
Red look to possess to penetrate from the defensive, to the middle third.
Red are challenged to find target players with a one-touch pass.
Blue are challenged to press high with vigor, and are rewarded with 2 goals if they win ball and score within final third.

Make it, Take it - Transitional Game-Play
Set-up.
Half-length field, including a line of confrontation and 3 counter gates (7 yards apart)
Simple rule of the exercise = Once a team scores, they keep the ball.
Objective here is for team without the ball to show resilience in defensive work, while team in possession should try attack quickly and ruthlessly as often as possible.

Passing into the pocket, playing out into space
Set-up.
Minimum 8 players per grid.
Balls begin at opposite end cones, one player in each box, one player on each 'wide' cone (as shown).
2 Boxes (5x5) inside the grid (as shown)
Players follow their pass, and execute a step-over at the mannequin before playing to the next line.
Encourage sharp, explosive ball movement, players always on toes, checking to receive ball consistently.
Combination play - Finishing Circuit
Set-up.
1/2 field size
Three Mannequins (as shown)
8 players per circuit + 2 GK's (ideal number)
Encourage quick movement off mannequins in combination
Speed of play under control is imperative for functional practice
Forward Finishing
set up.
3 cones, positioned as shown in a triangular formation.
3-6 is an ideal number for this one to maintain high reps.
Coaching points - Speed of ball, cleanliness and accuracy of combination.
Encourage 1 touch as often as possible.

Known by many as 'The Bayern' - This is our own mini progression of a great passing pattern
Set up.
10 cones - one large rectangle with a smaller one inside of it. + 4 cones on the outside.
Large rectangle - 25 x 20
Small rectangle - 9 x 6
The pattern rhythm is always 'long, short, outside, long'
Once understanding of the direction and rhythm, players MUST remember to follow their pass.

Together, we develop the game.
